Fairfax House
Restoring a Sydney Architectural Icon
Located in Sydney’s Eastern Suburbs, the Fairfax House is a remarkable example of Victorian Free Gothic architecture. Originally constructed in 1858, it is one of Sydney’s significant heritage-listed properties. We felt extremely privileged to be awarded these works.
Our heritage works team completed the project with a thorough understanding of heritage conservation principles, and specialist application in both preparation and remediation was required. Throughout the project, each stage of the works was undertaken with detailed inspection and review to ensure that the building’s defining heritage features, intricate architectural details, and period elements were retained and protected. Maintaining authenticity while delivering a high-quality restoration outcome was a key objective from project commencement through to completion.
Successful delivery of the Fairfax House project relied on close collaboration between all stakeholders, including architects and heritage specialists, supported by strong communication, project management, and a comprehensive understanding of heritage restoration requirements.
